Why I Started Kovenant K9
Most trainers will say they got into this because they love dogs. That's true for me too. It's just not the reason I started a dog training business.
I spent years in the Marine Corps. Then I worked as a law enforcement K9 handler on a SWAT team. In both worlds, the handler-dog relationship isn't sentimental. It's operational. Built on clarity, consistency, and trust. There's no room for mixed signals. The dog needs to know exactly what's expected, and the handler needs to mean what they say.
When I got out, I watched how most people interact with their dogs and I realized — it’s the same problem every time. Not bad dogs. Broken communication. People who genuinely loved their animals but had zero foundation to stand on. Dogs that were anxious, reactive, out of control — not because something was wrong with them, but because nobody ever gave them a clear set of rules.
That gap is why Kovenant K9 exists.
The name carries weight on purpose. A covenant isn't a binding contract you walk away from when it gets inconvenient. It's a commitment. Between you and your dog. Built on accountability.

Dogs aren't small humans. They don't process the world the way we do. They thrive with structure. They relax when there's a clear hierarchy. They're happiest when the rules are consistent and enforced.
My approach comes directly from working dog methodology. Clear communication, calm authority, consistent reinforcement. No quick fixes. We build habits — in your dog and in you.
Because here's the part a lot of trainers skip: what happens in a session is maybe 10% of the outcome. The other 90% is what you do every day when I'm not there.
Every program is built to transfer to you. You're the long-term handler. My job is to make sure you can do this without me.
